The Clearwater National Forest boasts 1.8 million acres of Idaho's Big Wild, stretching from the jagged peaks of the Bitterroot Mountains on the Montana border, westward to the hills of the Palouse Prairie, rolling from Idaho into Washington state. Elevations range from 1600 to almost 9000 feet. Much of the landscape is forested, deep canyons interspersed with high, rugged ridges.
